PORTAL UNIVERSIA, S.A. (hereafter UNIVERSIA or PORTAL UNIVERSIA) considers that the privacy, personal and family intimacy of the USER of the UNIVERSIA PORTAL, are rights to be taken in all seriousness and strictly respected. For this reason, bearing in mind the medium through which we provide our services (Internet) and the security required in this regard, we have designed a policy and the necessary measures and procedures in order to implement this policy as effectively and rigorously as possible.

PORTAL UNIVERSIA guarantees the confidentiality of all personal data provided by users and the handling thereof in accordance with the applicable data protection laws.

The Law imposes a series of obligations and also establishes the rights of individuals in matters regarding personal data protection. In order to be properly informed and, where necessary, exercise their rights, USERS must read this notice carefully.

PORTAL UNIVERSIA reserves the right to modify this notice in order to adapt it to any new legislation or jurisprudential changes, or any modifications or practices in the industry. In any such case, sufficient advance warning will be provided of the changes due to be introduced to the data protection policy and when they will take effect.

It is also necessary to advise and consider that some of the PORTAL UNIVERSIA services may include stipulations and provisions in this regards in their particular conditions. With regard to the general and particular conditions of the PORTAL UNIVERSIA content and services, please read our LEGAL NOTICE carefully.

Prior to listing the fundamental principles of our personal data protection policy it is important to define what these are. As described in the Spanish Data Protection Act (Ley Orgánica de Protección de Datos de Carácter Personal - LO 15/1999 de 13 de diciembre), these are understood to mean "any information regarding identified or identifiable individuals".

The only personal data accessible by UNIVERSIA will be that provided by the USER. In this sense it is important that the USER is aware that in order to register on the PORTAL UNIVERSIA personal data will be requested. This includes only data absolutely necessary for accessing the PORTAL and making use of certain services and contents.

With regard to personal data supplied by the USER, this may only be subject to automated handling in the form and for the purpose set out and expressly authorised by the USER. To this effect, the aforementioned data will be included on a file owned and managed by the PORTAL UNIVERSIA.

The purpose of the collection and handling of the personal data provided by the USER to UNIVERSIA is the development of all activities related to the PORTAL and, in particular, the management, development, administration, provision, updating, personalisation and improvement of the services and content of the site accessed by the USER, the statistic analysis of the services and content used, and USER tastes and preferences.
Furthermore, and part of the aforementioned purpose of developing the PORTAL activity, surveys, information, notices etc., regarding UNIVERSIA, its services and content will be sent out via different means. As regards the surveys and forms, remittance to USERS does not mean or impose any obligation or commitment to respond to this information.

In compliance with current legislation, PORTAL UNIVERSIA has adopted the measures and techniques necessary to maintain the level of security required in the handling of personal data. It also has the means necessary to avoid, as far as possible, unauthorised access, extraction and illicit modification or loss of data. However, the USER must be informed, via this notice, that the above means are not infallible or impenetrable and therefore UNIVERSIA cannot be held responsible for any such practices.

In addition, the USER should be aware that by definition, the Internet is an open, global network and that, each time personal information is volunteered on line - for example on message boards, via email, or in chat rooms - this information is susceptible to being collected and used by others. In summary, if you publish personal data on line which is accessible to the public, it is possible that you receive unsolicited message from other parties and that your data is, therefore, accessible. Given all the above, maximum diligence is recommend in this matter, as is the use of all security mechanisms available to you.

Users have, and may exercise the right to access, cancel, rectify and oppose this data, by contacting UNIVERSIA by ordinary mail, including a copy of their National Identity Card and indicating their address, to PORTAL UNIVERSIA, S.A., at Ciudad Grupo Santander. Whenever personal data is requested from the USER through PORTAL UNIVERSIA, access will always be made available to the information contained in this personal data protection policy.
